Authorities helpless in crime upsurge

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

At the start of another year, I sit and wonder about the future of our beautiful country. Gunshots are the norm in high-risk areas, which are expanding daily but the authorities seem helpless in addressing the problem. Some reprieve came during the SoE, but there has been an upsurge in criminal activity since it was lifted. It is difficult to understand why, given the above circumstances, the authorities did not restrict the use of fireworks during this festive season. Perhaps they were too busy bestowing silk upon themselves. Will a renowned environmentalist please start a petition. I  will willingly add my signature, should it come my way.
