The pace of pan songs for 2013 will quicken in the next few weeks. My spies tell me that Dennis “Smithy” Smith who gave us Pan In Your Face and Jump Up And Play Yourself this year, is coming with three songs, Gih Me Some More, Always Nex’ Year and Music Is Meh Business.

I have heard Gih Me Some More, and it is a blast. His sister Diane Saunders, who sang Pan In Your Face, has blended voices with Smith in an interesting mix on the song. Always Nex’ Year is sung by former Volts Express singer, Garth David who wrote the lyrics for the song Music Is Meh Business. Smith, pannist, arranger, composer and now producer, plays the cruise ship circuit with his band Sugarcane.

Pan Buzz also heard the duo of Clive Telemaque/ William “Will B” Bannister with a killer of a song called People’s Choice, a tribute to the band Gonzales Sheikers for which Telemaque arranges. Both men have combined in an exciting way with Telemaque doing the melody, and Bannister the lyrics.

I particularly like the line in the song “you know when people start to fete, is when they get wet.”

Telemaque returns to the spotlight after his Play Yourself did the double for the band Trinidad All Stars this year. Telemaque is one of the standout pannists at the All Stars.
