Serrette returns as head of NAAA
Ephraime Serrette was given the nod to head local track and field for yet another time as he was re-elected as president of the National Association of Athletic Administration (NAAA) for a second term at the association’s annual general meeting(AGM) at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, yesterday.
Serrette was unopposed and will be at the helm until 2013.
The Morvant resident and national former sprinter rose to the top spot in 2006 after the then-president Ken Doldron vacated the position. His first full term was in 2007. There are some changes though as Durly Lucas contested and won the third vice president (VP) spot after holding the fourth VP in the 2007-2010 period. The outgoing third VP James Dedier did not face the polls.
The fourth VP was won by Nadine Hamid. Trevor James is a new Public Relations Officer and replaces Peter Samuel, who has been absent for most of the year because of personal commitments. Samuel did not go up for re-elections.Paul Voisin, Ali St Louis and Robin Brereton were all voted in as committee members replacing Gerard Franklyn, John Andalcio and Michelle Stoute-Lopez.
The positions of secretary and assistant secretary will be selected by the new executive.Allan Baboolal and Dexter Voisin held the secretary and assistant secretary post in the last regime and are expected to be returned.
