The in­ter­im com­mit­tee of the Cen­tral Zon­al Coun­cil of the T&T Crick­et Board (TTCB) came in for high prais­es from the lo­cal board's ex­ec­u­tive in­clud­ing pres­i­dent Deryck Mur­ray and CEO and gen­er­al sec­re­tary, Forbes Per­saud.

The prais­es were sung at the zone's an­nu­al pre­sen­ta­tion of awards held on Sun­day at the Na­tion­al Crick­et Cen­tre in Bal­main, Cou­va. Mur­ray thanked the in­ter­im com­mit­tee head­ed by At­tor­neys at Law, Samuel Saun­ders and Lennox Sankers­ingh and sec­re­tary Ramb­hai Pa­tel. He said, "These gen­tle­men worked as­sid­u­ous­ly to en­sure that crick­et was played. I al­so want to say thanks to the var­i­ous clubs, who in tan­dem with the in­ter­im com­mit­tee en­sured it was a suc­cess­ful sea­son," Mur­ray said. Al­so com­ing in for ku­dos were two long-stand­ing mem­bers of the zone–William Jef­fries and vice pres­i­dent of the Cli­co Preysal Sports Club, Mansur Baksh, who are both mem­bers of the dis­ci­pli­nary com­mit­tee.

"When we took of­fice in No­vem­ber, all our fi­nan­cial re­spon­si­bil­i­ties were tak­en care of, we have paid all our out­stand­ing debts, we paid the um­pires for 2008 and 2009, we are the first zone to hold our pre­sen­ta­tion func­tion and we still have some­thing ex­tra," Saun­ders said. Bob­by Sookoo of Bal­main Unit­ed Sports Club was named "Play­er of the Year" in Di­vi­sion One, while John Pe­ter Road Sports Club was vot­ed 'Club of the Year'. For­mer T&T youth left-arm spin­ner Boya Sahdeo was spe­cial­ly ho­n­oured by the zone for out­stand­ing ser­vices and con­tri­bu­tion to Cen­tral Zone this year.
