Quincy Alexander, a member of T&T's team at the Junior Pan American Cycling Championships in Mexico, yesterday, became this country's youngest ever medallist at the championships. The 15-year-old Alexander was a member of the team which won a bronze medal in the Team Sprint on the first day of the competition. Also on the team with Alexander, who previouly held the junior national record in the Match Sprint were 2008 Junior Pan American silver medallist Njisane Phillip and Therieff Smart.
First place in the event went to Mexico with Venzuela second.
Also in competition for T&T on the first day was Rudy Ashton, who placed fifth in the Scratch Race. Varun Maharaj also competed, placing seventh in the final Individual Pursuit. Today all three members of T&T's bronze-medal-winning team will participate in the Match Sprint.
