?A 42-year-old mother of 11 was found murdered at a house along Orangefield Road, Carapichima, by officers of the Guard and Emergency Branch, yesterday. The gruesome discovery was made after 19-year-old Nadia Bahadur reported to police that a male relative came to her place of work in Chaguanas, his clothes stained with fresh blood and told her he had murdered her mother. Police have identified the victim as Waheeda Bahadur, of Warrenville.
She was employed as a waitress, in Cunupia. Up to late yesterday, the 56-year-old male relative of the victim remained in police custody, assisting them with investigations. He was held at the home of relatives at Sippy Road, Gasparillo. Bahadur was found lying on a bed with a gaping wound to the head. Officers suspect she was beaten to death with a hammer. A team of officers led by Supts Dulalchan, Parasram and ASP Maynard of the Central Division visited the scene. Investigations are continuing. (AS)
