T&T based Guyanese-born light heavy­weigh box­er, Shawn Corbin is con­fi­dent ahead of his World Box­ing Or­gan­i­sa­tion (WBO) In­ter­con­ti­nen­tal Ti­tle fight against cham­pi­on Karo Mu­rat of Ger­many tonight in Berlin. The 34-year-old World Box­ing Coun­cil (WBC) Cabofe and World Box­ing Em­pire (WBE) world cham­pi­on, tipped the scale at 174 lbs, one less than his op­po­nent at yes­ter­day weigh-in.

Pro­mot­er/Man­ag­er Boxu Potts said Corbin was two pounds over­weight but was able to take it off with just half an hour of skip­ping. "Shawn has a big height and reach ad­van­tage over Mu­rat, who seems to be a blown up mid­dleweight, how­ev­er we leav­ing noth­ing to chance," Potts said.

"We are go­ing to give it our best shot and try to knock out Mu­rat be­tween the first and sixth rounds. We are aware of the fact that we are in his back yard and es­pe­cial­ly in Ger­many, one has to some­times knock his op­po­nent out to stand a chance of win­ning." Potts added, "If the fight goes the dis­tance it would be very dif­fi­cult to win in Ger­many.
