T&T based Guyanese-born light heavyweigh boxer, Shawn Corbin is confident ahead of his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Intercontinental Title fight against champion Karo Murat of Germany tonight in Berlin. The 34-year-old World Boxing Council (WBC) Cabofe and World Boxing Empire (WBE) world champion, tipped the scale at 174 lbs, one less than his opponent at yesterday weigh-in.
Promoter/Manager Boxu Potts said Corbin was two pounds overweight but was able to take it off with just half an hour of skipping. "Shawn has a big height and reach advantage over Murat, who seems to be a blown up middleweight, however we leaving nothing to chance," Potts said.
"We are going to give it our best shot and try to knock out Murat between the first and sixth rounds. We are aware of the fact that we are in his back yard and especially in Germany, one has to sometimes knock his opponent out to stand a chance of winning." Potts added, "If the fight goes the distance it would be very difficult to win in Germany.
