Sangre Grande Corporation has honoured four of its own for their valuable contribution to the region. The awards were presented to 2010 Soca Chutney Monarch Ravi B; Ramdeen "Falko" Maharaj; Yanick Cariah, for his sterling performance in cricket; and Marilyn Lynch a public health inspector with the Eastern Regional Health Authority, for yeoman service.
Chairman Ronald Boynes took time off from his monthly statutory meeting on Thursday, to pay tribute to the foursome for making the region proud. Toco/Fishing Pond councillor Terry Rondon, who heaped praises on the awardees, openly admitted to his colleagues that he had no idea that Ravi B was a "son of the soil." Ravi B, Falko and Cariah each received plaques' donated by members and staff of the corporation, while Lynch was presented with a bouquet.
"This is a token of appreciation for excelling in your field. You have made us proud," said Boynes. Ravi B and Falko live at Graham Trace in Sangre Grande, within a stone's throw of each other. In thanking the corporation, Ravi B promised to work harder for 2011 to keep Sangre Grande's name flying high.
