?Tots & Tumblers Gymnastic Club is achieving another "first" for gymnastics in T&T when it host an American club for its 14th Annual Invitational Meet. Eight gymnasts from Pennsylvania-based, Spirit Gymnastics will be competing against gymnasts from seven local clubs, including Arima-based, first-time competitors Lee's Gymnastics, next week Friday and Saturday at Woodbrook Youth Facility, Hamilton-Holder Street. Approximately 150 local gymnasts will be aiming to stop their US-based counterparts from Spirit Gymnastics from taking back trophies and medals outside the country.
Officiating over the two days of competition will be four foreign judges one from Canada and three from the US.
Action starts with the higher-level gymnasts on the opening day, which begins with warm-ups at 6 pm–an hour before the official start of competition. T&T's gymnasts will face tough competition during this session as five of the foreign-based gymnasts compete in Levels seven and eight. Level seven will be especially closely-contested, as the youngest gymnast in the level will be Tots and Tumblers' ten-year-old Lauren Boocock, who will be competing for the first time at this level. She will face competition from three US gymnasts and five other local gymnasts. Once again, corporate sponsors Elle & Vire, Daynco Limited, De Freitas Consulting Ltd, Toyota Trinidad Ltd and other friends and families of Tots & Tumblers have given generously, and made it possible to host the event.
