T&T's Kelly-Anne Billingy and her Valencianas de Juncos team-mates continued their last push for a quarterfinal spot in the Puerto Rico Volleyball Federation 42nd Women's Super League with a third straight win on Tuesday night. Led by Kelly Wing's 14 points and ten from Erica Lott, Juncos brushed aside Los Gigantes Carolina 25-18, 25-16, 25-23 to improve its overall record to five wins from 12 matches, the same as its opponents, who are fifth on the table.
Billingy, coming off of 21 and 18-point performances in two previous victories had nine points this time out, the same as Sol Gonzalez, to complete a balance attack for 2004 champions, Juncos, who return to action tonight against Guaynabo. On the opposite side of the net, Jessica Jones topscored for Carolina with 13 points, Lilly Denoon got ten, Tatiana Encarnacion, seven, and Katie Olsovsky, five.
In other matches played on Tuesday night, table leaders Toa Baja (12-1) slipped past Guaynabo (4-9), 3-2; Mayaguez (9-4) blanked Corozal (5-8), 3-0 and Caguas (5-9) whipped Bayamon (4-8), 3-1. Third placed Catano has a record of nine wins from 13 matches while Ponce, the other team not in action on Tuesday night is fourth with six wins, and six defeats on the ten-tean table. At the end of 18 matches, the top eight clubs will qualify for the quarterfinals
