Tobago United boss Peter Granville says his team's 3-0 shut-out of St Ann's Rangers in Round Seven of the Digicel Pro League at the Plymouth Recreation Ground on Saturday could have happened at any venue. Speaking on the heels of Rangers head coach Anthony Streete comments that the venue favours Tobago United, Granville said, "We would have played Rangers at the St Ann's Ground and the score would have been the same on that day."
Granville explained that the Plymouth venue is a good ground that was even used by the T&T Under-20 team in preparation for the last Youth Fifa World Cup after millions of dollars in upgrade by the Tobago House of Assembly THA). However he admitted that the dressing rooms are a bit too small and in need of modifications.
Second-half goals by Raoul Chapman (47th minute), Jamal Spencer (56th minute) and Kevon Woodley (64th minute) secured Tobago's second consecutive victory of the season after whipping Police 3-1 a week earlier. And it wasn't by luck according to Granville adding, "Really, we've been playing some good football and I know people would be surprised with two victories in a row which is history for the club.
"But we have been playing good football over time and credit must be given to the technical staff that worked really hard. Last week was a very difficult outing and we got the desired result. "Wow we face another difficult one against San Juan Jabloteh on Saturday and will look towards another good result." Tobago is seventh spot with seven points, one less than sixth placed Jabloteh on the 11-team table ahead of their meeting at the Plymouth venue tomorrow from 5 pm.
