?T&T's Kelly-Anne Billingy captured the "Best Server" award when the ninth Women's Pan American Voleyball Cup ended in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico on Saturday. During the 11-team topurnament, Billingy, who plays professionally in Puerto Rico was a key weapon for T&T who ended in tenth spot.
Prisilla Rivera of the Dominican Republic was selected as the Most Valuable Player won by her side with a victory over Peru, 25-17, 30-28, 25-22. The hard-hitting Dominican is used to this kind of awards since she won MVP honors at last year's Norceca's Continental Championship and earlier this year during the Queen's Cup in the Spaniard League.
Her team-mates, Brenda Castillo and Lisvel Eve also received trophies, the Best Receiver, Best Digger and Best Libero while Eve won the "Best Blocker" award.
Cuban Kenia Carcaces was the "Best scorer", Puerto Rican Sarai Alvarez "Best Spiker" and Peruvian Elena Keldibekova, the "Best Setter". In was the second title for the Dominican team in the nine-year history of the event with the other gold medal coming two years ago in Mexicali, Baja California. The USA claimed the bronze medal after a 25-15, 25-20, 25-17 win over Cuba, and Argentina claimed the fifth position downing Puerto Rico 25-23, 25-21, 25-16. Canada secured seventh spot after it beat Brazil 25-18, 11-25, 25-14, 25-22 while host Mexico avenged a first day loss to T&T with a three set win in their ninth place battle on Friday.
