Re­ject­ed by the Unit­ed Na­tion­al Con­gress to con­test the up­com­ing lo­cal elec­tions for­mer Al­der­man Ra­jen­dra Go­sine has re­signed from the par­ty.

Go­sine, who served as an al­der­man in the Cou­va Tabaquite/Tal­paro Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion (CT­TRC) for the past four years, said it was a most painful de­ci­sion but he had lost con­fi­dence in the lead­er­ship of the par­ty which he has served for more than 20 years. He sub­mit­ted his let­ter of res­ig­na­tion to the UNC gen­er­al sec­re­tary, dat­ed Ju­ly 5, Nom­i­na­tion Day. Go­sine, of Dow Vil­lage, Cal­i­for­nia, said his res­ig­na­tion was with im­me­di­ate ef­fect.

He said the de­ci­sion was painful but af­ter se­ri­ous de­lib­er­a­tions and con­sid­er­a­tion of the dilem­ma, which con­fronts both him­self and the par­ty, he had no choice. Go­sine not­ed: "Over the last cou­ple of days, I have lost tremen­dous con­fi­dence in the lead­er­ship of the UNC and its screen­ing com­mit­tee with re­gards to the lo­cal gov­ern­ment elec­tion 2010."

He said he had served the UNC, which joined with the COP, NJAC, TOP and MSJ, to form the Peo­ple's Part­ner­ship Gov­ern­ment, in var­i­ous ca­pac­i­ties over the past 20 years. In spite of his long ser­vice, Go­sine said he did not feel his ded­i­ca­tion and ser­vice was ac­knowl­edged be­cause he was not se­lect­ed to con­test the Cal­i­for­nia/Point Lisas seat for the UNC. Go­sine felt he was the best can­di­date to bring the seat home.
