National champion Colin Ramasra will lead T&T's charge at the squash event of the 2010 Central America and Caribbean (CAC) Games, which will be played in Bogota, Colombia from July 17 to August 1. Ramasra will be the only player to do battle in the men's singles, while Nikita Toon Tong will contest the women's singles. Don Lee, Ryan Abraham and Kale Wilson make up the men's team, with Kerrie Sample, Joanne Scoon and Amy Gillezeau completing the women's line-up. The T&T top-ranked player said it will definitely be a tough challenge, however, he feels that the twin island can medal in one of the categories.
He was knocked out in the round of 16 in 2006 and Ramasra is aiming for a spot in the top four this time round. "My goal is to medal in the individual category at this tournament. Once I qualify for the semifinals I will claim a medal since both the third and fourth finishers receive a bronze medal. "My main concern, however, is the altitude and we do not have a lot of time to get used to it. Nevertheless we are going out there to represent T&T and try to accomplish our goals," said Ramasra. Lee and Abraham are expected to do battle in the men's doubles, with Scoon and Gillezeau doing likewise for the women, while Ramasra will team up with Sample to contest the mixed doubles. The T&T contingent wings out on Friday for Colombia.
