Shooter Roger Daniel was spot on target as he fired his way to his first ever gold medal at the 21st Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, yesterday. The medal by Daniel in the men's 25m Standard Pistol was one of two on the day for the red, white and black flag as the cycling team of Njisane Phillip, Christopher Sellier and Azikiwe Kellar rode to bronze in the men's Team Sprint. The two medals carried T&T's tally to nine, two gold (Daniel and George Bovell III), three silver and four bronze.
Competing at the Albergue Ol�mpico, Salinas, Daniel a corporal in the Defence Force totaled 565 points to take the gold medal, five ahead Venezuela's Franco Di Mauro (560) while Guatemalan, Sergio Sanchez won a play-off with Venezuela's Felipe Beuvrin for the bronze medal after both finished with 558. Rhodney Allen, T&T's other competitor placed 22nd with a score of 472. Today, Daniel and Allen will seek more medals in the men's 25m Centre-Fire Pistol competition.
