Six different players were on target as W Connection pounded DirecTV North East Stars 6-0, at Gilbert Park, Couva on Thursday, to retain the e Oasis Youth Pro League Under-18 Division title. Going into the match, W Connection needed only a draw but was given a perfect start by Stars' Nicholas Duncan who conceded an own goal in the sixth minute. National youth team player, Ryan Frederick made it 2-0 in the 27th minute and Jose De Silva added a third eight minutes later for a 3-0 lead at the interval. On the resumption, Donnelly Gopicharan (68th), Malcolm Nedd (79th) and Kellon Alexander, six minutes from the end were also on target to complete the drubbing and spark of wild celebrations.
With the win, W Connection ended its 20-match schedule with 50 points, six more than bmobile Joe Public which has a match left to play. In the under-16 title race, W Connection stayed on course for a successful title defence after whipping Stars 5-2 led by a double from Andel Williams in the 11th and 15th minute.The table leaders have 42 points from 18 matches, four ahead of Joe Public which defeated Defence Force 3-0. Darion De Matas opened the scoring for Joe Public in the 19th minute before Shackiel Bertrand got goals in the 34th and 54th minutes to seal the three points. Jabloteh has already won the ten-team under-14 age-group.
