Bmo­bile Joe Pub­lic put their Con­ca­caf Cham­pi­ons League hor­ror be­hind, and avenged their Lu­cozade Sport Goal Shield quar­ter­fi­nal de­feat against the DI­RECTV North East Stars, with a 2-0 win in their quar­ter­fi­nal clash of the 2010 First Cit­i­zens Cup at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um, Sat­ur­day night.

First half goals by Gayson Gre­go­ry and Ker­ry Bap­tiste helped the "East­ern Li­ons" turn the ta­bles on the Lu­cozade Sport Goal Shield win­ners. The Ma­coya based unit went ahead in the 36th minute, when An­tiguan strik­er Gre­go­ry met an An­dre Tou­s­saint right side cross to head past goal­keep­er Michael Woods for a 1-0 ad­van­tage.

Then with a minute to go in the half, the Li­ons were giv­en an ear­ly Christ­mas present by Stars. Woods pulled down Makan His­lop in the box, and a penal­ty was award­ed. Skip­per Ker­ry Bap­tiste then made no mis­take from the spot, to give Pub­lic a 2-0 lead at the half. While both teams had chances in the sec­ond pe­ri­od, none were con­vert­ed and at the fi­nal whis­tle, the Li­ons walked away with the win. Mean­while the oth­er en­counter be­tween San Juan Jabloteh and Ma Pau was not played as both teams turned up with the same colour kits.
