A 59-year-old taxi-dri­ver was stabbed to death and his throat slit yes­ter­day at his home on Louis Cir­cu­lar Dri­ve, San­gre Grande. Po­lice said Rod­ney Ram­per­sad was found dead in his liv­ing room around 8.30 am.

A re­port said his son, who lives next door, heard a scuf­fle and loud nois­es and went to check. He found his fa­ther dead with his throat slit.In­ves­ti­ga­tors said Ram­per­sad al­so was stabbed about the up­per body­His taxi, which was nor­mal­ly parked in front of the house, was stolen.

The body was viewed by the dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer who or­dered it re­moved to the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre for an au­top­sy.

There were no ar­rests up to late yes­ter­day.Mean­while, a 27-year-old woman, who was in po­lice cus­tody in con­nec­tion with the death of Mar­cel Short, has been re­leased.

Short, 23, was stabbed to death dur­ing a do­mes­tic row at his home in Arou­ca last Thurs­day.The Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tion or­dered an in­quest in­to Short's death.
