Fa­ti­ma Col­lege con­tin­ued its dom­i­nance of schools' swim­ming when it won the Bea­con Sec­ondary Schools' Swim­ming Cham­pi­onship at the Cen­tre of Ex­cel­lence Pool, Ma­coya on Sun­day.The meet, host­ed by the Tidal Wave Aquat­ics swim club, saw the boys from the Mu­cu­rapo based school com­bine to set four new meet records.

Fa­ti­ma's first record on the day came from Shane Cor­bie in the 13-14 Boys' 25 me­tres back­stroke in the non-com­pet­i­tive di­vi­sion when he clocked 14.97 sec­onds to erase the old mark of 15.31 sec­onds.

Na­tion­al swim­mer Jabari Bap­tiste, com­pet­ing in the 12 and Un­der Boy's com­pet­i­tive cat­e­go­ry swam to Fa­ti­ma's sec­ond record, in the 50m breast­stroke in 34.21 to low­er the old record of 34.33.

Bap­tiste lat­er com­bined with fel­low na­tion­al swim­mers Dy­lan Carter, Joshua Ro­many, and Blaine So­bri­an to set new records in the 14 and Un­der Boys' 200m med­ley and 200m freestyle re­lays. They were the on­ly two new re­lay records of the day.Five oth­er swim­mers es­tab­lished new in­di­vid­ual meet records in­clud­ing the na­tion­al trio of Caryle Blondell, Kade­ja Phillip and Cherelle Thomp­son.

Blondell sat a new record in the Boys' 15 and Over 50m freestyle and 50m back­stroke com­pet­i­tive events; Phillip in the Girls' 15&Over 50m but­ter­fly com­pet­i­tive and Thomp­son in the girls' 15&Over 50m freestyle com­pet­i­tive.The oth­er record break­ers were Jonathan Owen of Trin­i­ty Col­lege East in the Boys' 25m back­stroke and 25m but­ter­fly non-com­pet­i­tive events and Mari­ka Mendez of St Joseph's Con­vent, Port- of-Spain in the Girls' 25m back­stroke non-com­pet­i­tive.
