San Juan Jabloteh striker, Jerrel Britto came off the bench to set up two goals and score one, as T&T Under-20 Soca Warriors recorded a 4-1 win over St Vincent and the Grenadines 4-1 in their return-leg of the Caribbean Football Union Under-20 Group D qualifier at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, Wednesday night. With the win, T&T won the home-and-away series 12-1 after an 8-0 win in Kingstown on Friday to advance to the Group D decider against Suriname on December 10 (away) and five days later at home. The winner of the T&T/Suriname series will earn Concacaf's fourth spot to the Final Round qualifiers where they will join the three other CFU group winners, Cuba (Group A), Guadeloupe (Group B) and Jamaica (Group C) for the 12-team tournament in Guatemala from April 3-17 next year. Prior to the start of Wednesday's kick-off national Under-20 coach, Bosnia-born Zoran Vranes had indicated his intention to give a few of his fringe players a start and he did just that with first-team regulars, John Thomas (goalkeeper), Jeron Morris, Shahdon Winchester, Britto and Marcus Joseph all being rested.
Despite the changes, T&T still managed to get on the score sheet within minutes of the kick-off when speedy Jabloteh forward, Johan Peltier, the brother on senior Soca Warriors winger Lester "Corn Curls" Peltier opened the scoring. Peltier latched onto a long clearance by goalkeeper, Jamal Francois, and with a defender breathing down his neck, he poked the ball past goalkeeper Mc Ziggy Richards on his near post for a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute. However, the second string Under-20 Warriors failed to press home their early advantage while at the other end of the field, St Vincent and The Grenadines, who were the more physical of both teams on a cold night, had two attempts on goal via Myron Samuel.
Displeased with the first 45 minutes of football from his players' Vranes introduced away leg hat-trick scorer, Britto and Winchester, who had two goals in the first-leg win. Winchester made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute when he had the easiest of finishes from on the six-yard line after being fed a squared pass from the unselfish Britto, who was sent free down the left by a through ball from Ross Russell Jr. A minute before the final whistle, Britto turned provider again when he sqaured the ball for Ryan Frederick to tap home at the far post. With the seconds ticking away, St Vincent and The Grenadines got a consolation item for their effort when Samuel raced to the right byline and centred for Keeson Rouse to beat Francois with a low effort. However, within seconds of the restart Britto then held off the challenge of defender Krishan Gonzalves to beat the advancing Richards to complete a 4-1 whipping.
