The 2017 instalment of the popular Eyeslam Concert Series has kicked off to a pulsating start with a star-studded live cast in Tobago.
The much-anticipated weekly concert, now in its fifth consecutive year, was launched on January 6, and featured riveting performances from some of the biggest names in soca, including Sekon Sta, 5 Star Akil, Jaiga, Preedy and Salty, who delivered their 2017 soca offerings at the packed to capacity Shade Nightclub, Bon Accord.
The Eyeslam Concert Series is a collaborative effort between the telecommunications company and Slam 100.5fm, and provides a forum for soca fans to witness their favourite soca acts up close and personal, and in a more intimate setting.
According to Camille Campbell, VP Marketing, TSTT, sponsoring the event is simply in keeping with the company's mandate to promote and support local culture.
"We have always been consistent with contributing to the prosperity of T&T's indigenous arts and culture. At TSTT, we believe that it's extremely important to support our indigenous music, as well as our soca ambassadors, who continue to catapult soca on the world's stage. Eyeslam continues to be tremendously successful and we are very happy to play a part in making the event possible again this year."
Slam representative, Lisa Guichard, said the Slam team has pulled out all the stops to ensure that the concert series is bigger and better this time around.
"Eyeslam 2017 promises to be the biggest ever. Slam continues to grow this campaign by presenting loyal listeners and fans with a new addition each year. We live by our 'Progressive Urban' slogan and are motivated to keep our event trending with the implementation of new and expansive elements. We now have a total of seven free events - with two new inclusions. We have also seen the introduction of a Tobago event, along with the newest inclusion, Eyeslam Ultra to be held at the Radisson Hotel on February 8. The Concert Series will end in our recent tradition of the Slam street party Must Meet At Rust Street on February 15."
Guichard also praised bmobile for its continued support and commitment.
"The support of bmobile from the inception of the Concert Series, five years ago, has been invaluable to the growth of the campaign. We have been pleased to witness the advancement of two very progressive brands through this partnership. The experience, expertise and financial investment they bring to the table has allowed Eyeslam to evolve in ways that exceed even our expectations. Their technical savvy allows for the popularity of our live stream to reach hundreds of thousands of viewers all over the world who are not able to attend the events, and as such, they have truly allowed us to live up to our catchphrase, Radio You Can Watch. For their consistent belief and support in Slam 100.5FM, we are truly appreciative and ever grateful."
Throughout the Carnival season, socaholics will have the chance to be a part of the bmobile Eyeslam Concert Series which hits venues across the country, including, Woodford Cafe, Chaguanas, VAS Lounge, Port-of-Spain and Hutt Shuts, Tacarigua. Some of the artistes carded to hit the Eyeslam stages are Blaxx, Ricardo Drue, Third Bass, Impulse, KI, Rupee, Teddyson John, and reigning soca Monarch, Voice.
