For­mer Eu­ro­pean-based T&T World Cup strik­er Ja­son Scot­land was among the goals as Ma Pau Stars blanked strug­gling Mor­vant Cale­do­nia Unit­ed 2-0 at the Lar­ry Gomes Sta­di­um, Mal­abar on Sun­day.

Scot­land who pre­vi­ous­ly plied his trade in the Scot­tish and Eng­lish Pre­mier Leagues opened the scor­ing in the 25th while Mor­vant Cale­do­nia al­so con­cede an own-goal in the 38th minute.

In the sec­ond-half, Mor­vant Unit­ed showed vast im­prove­ment and had a shout for a penal­ty, but it was waived off by ref­er­ee Gyasi Mc Don­ald, who al­so de­nied Stars, a chance from 12 me­tres as well, with an­oth­er no-call .

With the win, Ma Pau im­proved to 28 points, one be­hind third-placed San Juan Jabloteh, ahead of their fi­nal league game of the sea­son against sec­ond-po­si­tioned W Con­nec­tion (43 points) next week­end, while Jabloteh are against league lead­ers and two-time de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Cen­tral FC (44 points) in their fi­nal game.

The Dale Saun­ders-coached Cen­tral FC, cham­pi­ons for the past two sea­sons is hop­ing to be­come the first club in Pro League his­to­ry to se­cure three straight league crowns.

So far, the quar­tet of De­fence Force, Jabloteh, W Con­nec­tion and Cen­tral FC have all won the ti­tles two straight sea­sons, with W Con­nec­tion and Jabloteh do­ing it more than once.

The "Savonet­ta Boys" as W Con­nec­tion are known have won the five times (2000, 2001, 2005, 2011-2012, 2013-14) while Jabloteh was vic­to­ri­ous four times (2002, 2003/20004, 2007, 2008 and De­fence Force made it back-to-back ti­tles in 2010/2011 and 2012/2013 while the "Teteron Men" al­so won in 1999.
