I am shocked and astonished at the justice system in this country. A man made a hoax call saying there was a bomb planted in a mall and this man got 21 days in jail with hard labour!
I would really like to know what is hard labour in our prisons. This person disrupted the country; he had shoppers, employees and employers running scared, and this is the satisfaction these people got for this criminal act?
In America there was a time one could not say the word "bomb." If you only use that word you could have been arrested by the police.
This man made a call on the phone and there was virtually no consequence for his act. I wonder where are we heading in this country. Where is the justice for the people who lost money in their businesses? I hope that all the business people come together and sue him for their losses. This is preposterous.
What this is showing is that anybody can make a call and say there is a bomb planted somewhere, because they know it is only 21 days in prison they will get–no big thing.
A man planted a bomb in a dustbin on Frederick Street, Port-of-Spain over ten years ago and a woman lost a leg in that incident. Nobody was held for that crime.
This one made a bomb threat and he got a slap on the wrist. In some countries they would have made him an example, and give him life for his behaviour.
But as far as I can see we are not ready as yet. We are a set of jokers for we are not serious about anything. We need to get our house in order because time is running out.
