Ten local football referees yesterday received Fifa badges to join the official list of referees for this year's international matches.
The referees were presented with the badges at a function hosted by the T&T Football Association (TTFA) at the VIP Lounge of the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, yesterday.
Crystal Sobers, who officiated at the Concacaf U-15 Women's Championship last year, received her first badge for senior international matches. Cecile Hinds, first listed in 2013, was given another badge. Rodphin Harris, first named in 2013 returns to the list this year. He was appointed to the recent 2018 World Cup Qualifier between Montserrat and Curacao.
Other names included were Kevin Lewis-First (first international assistant referees' badge), Ainsley Rochard (Fifa Assistant Referee since 2008), Joseph Bertrand (first year on the assistant referees' list), Glen Kevin Charles (first year on the assistant referees' list), Tricia Des Vignes, (first year on international women referees' list), Caleb Wales (international assistant referee since 2013), who is currently participating in a UEFA course for officials in Switzerland. Tobago was represented by Keon Yorke, who will see his first year on the referees' list.
TTFA president Raymond Tim Kee and head of the TTFA's referees department Ramesh Ramdhan paid tribute to the appointed officials. Also at the ceremony was president of the T&T Olympic Committee (TTOC) Brian Lewis.
