HBO Latin Amer­i­ca's new Eng­lish feed for Max in T&T and the Caribbean will give lo­cal au­di­ences more con­tent suit­ed for the Caribbean, Gus­ta­vo Gross­man, cor­po­rate VP, HBO LA Net­works, an­nounced on Thurs­day.

"T&T was one of the first coun­tries we launched our pack­age and adding con­tent from oth­er parts of the world will make it at­trac­tive. We know that in many ways T&T is dif­fer­ent from the rest of the Caribbean and his­tor­i­cal­ly, the in­flu­ences have been British and we be­lieve adding this con­tent, in Eng­lish or sub­ti­tled in Eng­lish, will add val­ue to our cus­tomers," he told the Sun­day Guardian at the launch of the new Eng­lish-lan­guage feed for MAX in the Caribbean at So­ho Beach House, Mi­a­mi.

The new ser­vice start­ed yes­ter­day."The chan­nel has a fresh and colour­ful im­age that re­flects the sounds, sights and en­er­gy of the Caribbean. It fea­tures unique and ex­cit­ing sto­ries from a va­ri­ety of gen­res, with au­dio broad­cast­ed in the pro­gramme's orig­i­nal lan­guage but now sub­ti­tled in Eng­lish," the com­pa­ny said in a re­lease.

Gross­man said the new chan­nel is tai­lored ex­clu­sive­ly for the Caribbean to sat­is­fy the au­di­ence's needs. He said al­though all the films may not be Eng­lish speak­ing in ori­gin, those that are not will be sub­ti­tled in Eng­lish. He gave the ex­am­ple of Bol­ly­wood, which has a large fol­low­ing in T&T."Many peo­ple do not know that it is the biggest pro­duc­er of films in the world. We be­lieve that it is a niche, we be­lieve the con­tent that is rich and dif­fer­ent from what we of­fer can add great pro­duc­tion val­ue. We buy a lot of Bol­ly­wood movies."

HBO's new chan­nel will fea­ture ex­clu­sive week­ly film pre­mieres from the re­spect­ed di­rec­tors and in­ter­na­tion­al­ly-recog­nised ac­tors, with in­de­pen­dent ti­tles on Sat­ur­days and block­buster hits on Sun­days.
