HBO Latin America's new English feed for Max in T&T and the Caribbean will give local audiences more content suited for the Caribbean, Gustavo Grossman, corporate VP, HBO LA Networks, announced on Thursday.
"T&T was one of the first countries we launched our package and adding content from other parts of the world will make it attractive. We know that in many ways T&T is different from the rest of the Caribbean and historically, the influences have been British and we believe adding this content, in English or subtitled in English, will add value to our customers," he told the Sunday Guardian at the launch of the new English-language feed for MAX in the Caribbean at Soho Beach House, Miami.
HBO Latin America's new English-language feed for MAX in the Caribbean, brings all the award-winning international films, documentaries and series to subscribers of the HBO/MAX premium package. The new service started yesterday."The channel has a fresh and colourful image that reflects the sounds, sights and energy of the Caribbean. It features unique and exciting stories from a variety of genres, with audio broadcasted in the programme's original language but now subtitled in English," the company said in a release.
Grossman said the new channel is tailored exclusively for the Caribbean to satisfy the audience's needs. He said although all the films may not be English speaking in origin, those that are not will be subtitled in English. He gave the example of Bollywood, which has a large following in T&T."Many people do not know that it is the biggest producer of films in the world. We believe that it is a niche, we believe the content that is rich and different from what we offer can add great production value. We buy a lot of Bollywood movies."
HBO's new channel will feature exclusive weekly film premieres from the respected directors and internationally-recognised actors, with independent titles on Saturdays and blockbuster hits on Sundays.
