Defending champion PowerGen cruised to a second win in as many matches, this time by 94-run margin over Esmeralda to remain unbeaten in the National League two-day competition, at Syne Village, yesterday.
Vaaroon Samaroo smashed a half-century (75) in the first innings as PowerGen finished on 228 from 55.4 overs. Esmeralda responded with 147 in its first innings, before PowerGen recorded 141 in its second innings to heap the pressure on the opponents. Samaroo took 2/22 while Sherwin Ganga took 4/44 and Ancil Bhaggan 2/18, as Esmeralda folded for 128.
QPCC took full points after defeating Clico Preysal by an innings and 22 runs. QPCC's 302-8 on the opening day was enough to see the club through to victory, as Preysal could only muster 95 and 183. Amit Jaggernauth was the pick of the bowlers taking 2/14 and 5/62.
Caldrac's clash with Jenexcon Tableland in California was abandoned.
