Defending national league two-day champions Powergen had to settle for a draw yesterday at the Syne Village ground in Penal, as Jenexcon Tableland improved its efforts on day two, led by the experienced captain Lincoln Roberts.
Resuming on 206/6 in the first innings, Tableland folded for 244, handing Powergen a first innings lead of 150 runs. Batting to save the match, former national and West Indies batsman Roberts led from the front, scoring 74. Roberts was ably supported by Kenton Thompson, who struck 65 to guide Tableland to 292 all out, a lead of 142 runs. Spin bowler Kavesh Kantasingh was the top bowler for Powergen, taking 4/124, while Sherwin Ganga picked up 2/37.
Powergen could only get to 35/4 in the second innings, when the match ended in a draw.
