Homi­cide de­tec­tives are in­ves­ti­gat­ing two cas­es in which de­com­pos­ing hu­man re­mains were found in sep­a­rate ar­eas of Ari­ma yes­ter­day.The first body was found by a fe­male farmer on her par­cel of land at By­pass Road, Mt Pleas­ant.Po­lice said around 2 pm, the woman was clear­ing the land for plant­i­ng when she stum­bled up­on a skel­ton in a patch of bush­es.She con­tact­ed po­lice and a par­ty of of­fi­cers led by In­sp Er­ic Parks and Cpl Sunil Ra­moutar re­spond­ed to the call.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said they be­lieve the vic­tim was a man be­cause of its height and the fact that a male watch was found on the wrist.Po­lice said they were un­able to de­ter­mine if his death was caused by vi­o­lence due to the poor con­di­tion of the body. The bones were col­lect­ed and tak­en to the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre, St James, for foren­sic test­ing.

Al­most an hour lat­er, the same group of of­fi­cers were called to Farm Road, Heights of Gua­napo, af­ter a body was spot­ted float­ing in a riv­er. Al­though po­lice and crime scene in­ves­ti­ga­tors were on the scene up to late yes­ter­day, the vic­tim had not been iden­ti­fied. Po­lice said the vic­tim, who was nude and in a se­mi-de­com­posed state, was found float­ing head down in the riv­er. The body was even­tu­al­ly fished out the riv­er and tak­en to the FSC for an au­top­sy sched­uled for this morn­ing.

De­tec­tives of the Re­gion Two Homi­cide Bu­reau are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to both in­ci­dents.
