Merryboys Sports Club continued their impressive form in the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) National League, as they took first innings points over Bamboo Sports on the opening day of their round six clash at the Diego Martin Recreation Ground yesterday.After the Barbadian Javon Searles 5/32, Atiba Allert 3/22 and Javed Ramdhanie 2/2 crippled the Bamboo batting for just 62 runs, Merryboys batsmen cashed in and at the end of the day the home team had replied with 309 all out. Half centuries from Kastri Singh (59) and Jetendra Sookdeo (55) and hard hit 45 from Searles have given Merryboys a first innings lead of 247 runs. They are firm favourites to win today and retain leadership of the points table.
At Munroe Road, Queen's Park was in control of their clash against Munroe Road United. Batting first, QPCC made 302 for seven declared with Daron Cruickshank hitting 79, Marlon Barclay 67 not out and Jeremy Solozano 55. Munroe Road in reply was struggling on 51 for three when stumps were drawn.Down South, Gregory Mahabir stroked an wonderful 145 as PowerGen took a giant lead over Moosai Sports. Moosai's batting first made just 101 and Mahabir then went to work, scoring his century to take his side to 231–a lead of 130 runs. Moosai Sports closed their second innings at 13 without loss.The day's other century came in the Clico Preysal versus Tableland clash. Guyanese Eugene Le Fleur struck a masterly 149 to give Preysal the edge over Tableland. Preysal batting first made 319 all out and Tableland was 63 for one when stumps were drawn.
