The T&T Cycling Federation together with the Minister of Sports must come together and find suitable roads for cycling clubs of our nation to train. The Santa Cruz road heading into Maracas Bay should definitely be one of the roads where these cyclists should not train. This road is narrow and winding and it does not allow for motorists to overtake these cyclists at regular intervals hence causing major traffic jams heading into Maracas Bay.
Knowing this, it is quite confusing why a particular cycling club would put its members' lives in jeopardy by choosing this road to train. Why would a coach want its members to inhale all the fumes from vehicles especially when going uphill? Why not choose a quieter road and protect your cyclists especially when you have just lost a member?
The Cycling Federation should be made aware that some of its members, on April 6, hurled vulgar expletives at a family which consisted of three girls all under the age of 13. They should also know that the coach of this club pulled in front of their vehicle preventing them (and many cars behind) from moving along this same road and then he proceeded to bang on their vehicle with the full force of his palms.
Thinking that he was somehow intimidating them, this idiot then started threatening them, shouting at the top of his voice still spewing obscenities.
Does the coach of this club believe that because he represented our nation years ago that he has the right to curse and prevent law-abiding citizens of our beloved nation from trying to pass them on the Maracas road? Does he believe that he and his members reserve full rights to the road? The Cycling Federation needs to review the laws of the road with its members.
