Sonja Soodeen with an unbeaten 40 piloted her school Cunaripo to a 48-run win over Talparo as action in the Atlantic National Primary Schools Cricket League continued yesterday.
Described by her coach as being in good form this season, Sodeen led from the front and rallied her school to an eventual total of 185 for four off 20 overs.
A partnership of 70 with Usha Lakhan cemented Cunaripo's lead. Also described as having a good season, right-handed Lakhan scored 23 not out.
The girls from Talparo replied with only 137 for seven in their 20 overs.
In another girls match, Alysa Ramdath took the honours for Rochard Douglas Presbyterian with a very good all-round effort against Moruga RC. Ramdath stroked 42 in her team's 135 for six off their 20 overs and then took 2/25, to bowl out Moruga RC for 105–giving Rochard Douglas a win by 30 runs.
The other match in the girls division between Cedros Government and Longdenville did not come off and will be played at a later date.
...Joshua James steals the show
In the boys division, Whim Anglican got an impressive eight-wicket victory over Bamboo Government in a re-scheduled match at Bamboo. Joshua James grabbed 2/11 and with help from Orlando James 2/13, crippled Bamboo for just 64. James then blasted 32 before being run out, but Gereed Louis with an unbeaten 24 ensured the emphatic win.
Guayaguayare was also on winners row but they just got over Montrose Government by two wickets. Monstrose taking first strike at Inshan Ali Park was bowled out for 53 and Guayaguayare replied with 55/8–winning by two wickets.
