T&T will face St Vincent and the Grenadines in its opening match in Group B of the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Championships for Women tomorrow in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, from July 8 to 12.
The team ended a week-long camp in Mayaro in which several warm-up matches were played as part of its preparations to contest to top honours which included one of three places at stake for the Centrobaske Championship which will be held later this month from 22-26 in Monterrey, Mexico.
The local squad is grouped with former champions Jamaica and Guyana and St Vincent and The Grenadines. Group A comprises: US Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Barbados and the Domican Republic.
The team comprises: Jowan Ortega, Shakira Clarke, Anika Nottingham, Jerlene Richardson, Rhonda John Davis, Joselisa Cooper, Kielle Connelly, Rhea Codio, Samantha Wallace, Alicia Liverpool, Latisha Pitt and Chervelle Cox. The management team is made of manager Arnold Thomas, head coach Leary "Fruits" Sandy, and assistant coaches Cleveland King and Shaun Ryan.
The contingent also includes T&T's FIBA referee Nathaniel Charles. The travelling party will depart Piarco International Airport today for the tournament.
Meanwhile, the Bahamas outplayed Cuba 75-64 to win the men's championship on Saturday night in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.
Both teams will be joined by the US Virgin Islands for the the Centrobasket Tournament in Nayarit, Mexico from August 1-7.
