Twelve years af­ter its for­mal open­ing, the Dwight Yorke Sta­di­um, sit­u­at­ed in Ba­co­let, To­ba­go, will un­der­go the first of sev­er­al facelifts as part of the Sport Com­pa­ny of T&T's (SporTT) pro­gramme of up­grades sched­uled to take place in 2013.

The up­grades will be im­ple­ment­ed by Ger­man con­trac­tor Berth Ham­mers and as­sist­ed by lo­cal con­trac­tor Bri­an Ibrahim of the Fit­ness Cen­tre Lim­it­ed.

The sta­di­um will un­der­go a range of im­prove­ments with spe­cial at­ten­tion giv­en to the track and play­ing field ar­eas in the ini­tial stage of con­struc­tion.

Speak­ing on the project, Min­is­ter of Sport Anil Roberts spoke of the ne­ces­si­ty of up­grades to sup­port the up­com­ing ath­letes, some of whom have al­ready rep­re­sent­ed the coun­try from the sis­ter isle.
