T&T's High Com­mis­sion­er to Lon­don Garvin Nicholas, in his ca­pac­i­ty as chair­man of the Cari­com arm of the Joint Com­mit­tee UK-Cari­com Com­mit­tee on Trade and In­vest­ment, con­vened a meet­ing with high com­mis­sion­ers from An­tigua/Bar­bu­da, Bar­ba­dos, Grena­da and Do­mini­ca to agree on ac­tions re­quired to fur­ther de­vel­op trade and in­vest­ment be­tween Cari­com and the UK/Eu­rope.

Dis­cus­sions cen­tred around find­ing ways to over­come chal­lenges faced by Cari­com coun­tries in ex­port­ing to UK/EU coun­tries; po­ten­tial av­enues for in­vest­ment across the re­gion; use of fi­nan­cial in­stru­ments, such as di­as­po­ra bonds and cus­tomised trad­ing/in­vest­ment plat­forms, and the mu­tu­al ben­e­fits to be de­rived from mean­ing­ful­ly en­gag­ing with the Cari­com di­as­po­ra to­ward de­vel­op­ment of trade and in­vest­ment be­tween the UK/EU and Cari­com.
