Penal Police are now searching for two men who kidnapped a Couva man and later dumped him at the side of the road before making off with his Toyota Hilux pickup. Police reports state that the victim, Basdeo Williams, of Mc Bean Village, Couva, was liming in a night club in Penal and decided to take a nap in his vehicle before driving home.
He parked the van around 1.40 am in a nearby carpark and fell asleep. He was awakened by two men who announced a hold-up and stole $150 from him. He said the men got into the van, pushed him into the back seat and put a "Marvin Gaye" hat over his head.
He told police the men then tied him up before driving to Best Trace, Penal Rock Road, where they threw him out of the van and sped off. Williams managed to free himself and sought help from residents in the area. They contacted Penal police, who searched the area.
Williams' van was found intact in a lonely agricultural road off Scott's Road. PC Singh of the Penal police station is continuing inquiries.
