Paris is considered to be the fashion capital of the world. Spring 2013 Fashion week featured 99 shows and designers from 22 countries presenting their collections of 12 shows per day sending Global fashionistas wanting more. Paris exudes luxury, excitement and romance, so does its designers and their designs.
Big Face Makeup Trends
One of the big face makeup trends for Fall/Winter 2013 was nude lips, washed out skin tones with a slightly greasy look, very little blush, eyes featuring only one shade of colour, to distressed looks, uniquely colour blocked eye shadow around the eye area to vibrant lip color. Artistic painted heart faces appeared ghostly but stated continual innovation. It certainly left you with a sense of none distraction, because the couture collections stood strong on their own.
Hair creations
Hair creations were the highlight; some were adorned with head crowns, to weaved pre-made coloured hair pieces in vibrant tones, cotton candy hair to deconstructed looks, to no fuss hair with none structured styles.
Notable Designs
Notable new designers featured retro shoulders reminiscent of the 80s, crowl collars, upturned lapels, to black kimono styled tops accented with shiny black minis. Some of my top picks were Dior created light airy dresses and coats in fresh-looking silk organza that were delicately embroidered with roses with the makeup accented with jeweled-eyes-gems with bright eye-shadow. Chanel designs offered 150 shades of divine blue which were hypnotic with an extraordinary WOW Chanel handbag.Herms represented elegance and a timeless beautiful style.
Elie Saab designs covered the skin, but focused on the bosoms by rounding the bodice and putting a decorative fabric patch in two crucial spots. The long-sleeved day dresses and even a streamlined jump suit. Louis Vuitton featured femininity under cover with soft lace that was hidden under a long tweed coat with a touch of sparkle on the hem. Fluffy sweaters came with a slip of a skirt and velvet dresses had a swoop of neckline. Luxurious deep-pile fur bags were a hit in the crowd.
To me Couture represents history and dressing many individual personality types, but it's the imagination of some of these fashion houses such as Dior, Chanel, Lagerfeld, Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Versace and many others new and old that provide the world a visionary trend palette of what's to come for Fall/ Winter 2013.
