Haydee Paul and her daughters–Ruthie, eight, and Shakira, seven–lived at Pioneer Drive. The three other victims of the crash were Amanda Lalla, Abigail Assing and Ryan Rampersad, also of Pioneer Drive.Minister of National Security Jack Warner and Works and Infrastructure Minister Emmanuel George promised to build a walkover for residents.Traffic wardens were posted soon after at Pioneer Drive to help pedestrians cross.
In a telephone interview yesterday, George said that the planned walkover was still in the making."Yes, there is a lot of work to be done and designs for it. However, there are a lot of utilities in the area," he said."We put a pedestrian crossing push button. We did the same thing as with the one as City Gate with the traffic signal. It is there 24 hours a day ,come rain or sunshine. It cannot get sick like a traffic warden can, and it is more efficient. We are asking for the residents to use it," he said.
Assing's sister Ayesha said she had been discharged from the hospital and was in good health."She is walking now and doing good," she said.Lala's daughter Davika, said her mother had been moved from the Intensive Care Unit to an ordinary ward. However, Pearl Rampersad said her son remains in the ICU.
"He has spontaneous movement and might move his eyes or his hands. I trying to find who to talk to and been to different wards to talk to doctors. Just keep him in your prayers," she said.
