Sec­ond seed­ed pair Justin Siu and Rahul Ram­per­sad ad­vanced to last night's semi­fi­nal of the men's dou­bles seg­ment of the T&T Bad­minton As­so­ci­a­tion's (TT­BA) Na­tion­al Se­nior Cham­pi­onships, where they were set to take on Der­win Re­nales and Al­is­tair Es­pinoza.

Ke­ston Fri­day and Ker­wyn Pan­tin, the dou­bles favourites, had ad­vanced to the same phase of the com­pe­ti­tion on Tues­day, af­ter de­feat­ing De­clan Mon­deroy and Jo­han Labastide 21-13, 21-16 in the quar­ter­fi­nal, and were set for ac­tion in the oth­er semi­fi­nal against Anil Seep­aul and Milind Ogale. The two semi­fi­nal match­es were sched­uled for 7 pm, last evening.

The fi­nal will be played to­mor­row at the Cen­tral Re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na (CRISA), Ch­agua­nas, the venue for both the se­nior and ju­nior cham­pi­onships.

Past press time last evening, Pan­tin and Ram­per­sad were locked in semi­fi­nal ac­tion of the men's sin­gles, while Ram­jass and Es­pinoza were al­so in ac­tion in the last-four stage. Thus far, Ram­per­sad has pro­duced the finest re­sults from sin­gles play hav­ing eas­i­ly de­feat­ed both his quar­ter­fi­nal and sec­ond-round op­po­nents Sher­az Nab­bie (21-6, 21-15) and Otis Fleary (21-11, 21-9), re­spec­tive­ly. In the women's sin­gles com­pe­ti­tion, Solan­gel Guz­man, the reign­ing cham­pi­on from Cu­ba, was up against Lean­na Cas­tana­da last evening, while Rhea Khan and Jade Joseph were locked in the two semi­fi­nal fix­tures.

The two mixed dou­bles semi­fi­nals were al­so played last night. Can­dice Lee Kim and Justin Siu were up against Khan and Quentin Thomas, while Ogale and Stephanie Mitchell played Guz­man and Ram­per­sad.

The two mas­ters men's dou­bles semi­fi­nal was in ac­tion last evening. Group A round-robin win­ner An­dre Lewis and Derek Singh played Group B run­ners-up Wayne Gomes and Pe­ter Har­ris. Group B's un­beat­en pair Wil­son Reyes and Al­lan Young played Tony Ali and Reynolds John.

All fi­nals will play to­mor­row at the same venue.
