The local market this week saw an increase in trading activity when compared to the previous week.There were 3,015,652 shares traded on the First Tier Market, which represented an increase of 42.99 per cent on last week's volume of 2,108,934 shares. The value of shares traded rose 10.08 per cent from $12,884,467.60 to $14,183,862.01. The volume leader was Trinidad Cement Ltd (TCL) with 77.02 per cent of the total volume traded or 2,322,520 shares.
All three indices ended the week in positive territory. The Composite Index advanced 0.5 per cent or 5.56 points to end the week at 1,110.37, the All Trinidad and Tobago Index increased 0.38 per cent or 6.8 points to 1,794.15 and the Cross Listed Index climbed 0.96 per cent or 0.53 points to 55.48.
Overall this week there were 11 stocks advancing and 2 declining. The week's major advance was Jamaica Money Market Brokers Ltd (JMMB) which rose 11.11 per cent or $0.05 to $0.50 and the major decline was Trinidad Cement Ltd (TCL) which slipped five per cent or $0.05 to $0.95.
