Siba Batoosingh's brilliant all-round performance yesterday at Caroni Savannah took the Central Zone close to victory at the end of day one in their two-day match against South West in the BGTT Under-15 InterZone competition.
In this competition, each team will bat twice, with both teams batting the same number of overs in each innings. In the first innings of this encounter, each team got thirty overs to bat, while they will get sixty-two overs in the second innings. The number of overs each team will bat in the second innings will vary from match to match, depending on the time remaining.
Batoosingh took 3/16 with his off-break bowling and later in the day struck 95. Central, which won the toss, decided to bowl first. Batoosingh's spell along with Emilio Gopaul's 2/16 restricted South West to 74 all out in 21.1 overs. Jordan Hansraj top-scored with 23 for South West.
In reply, Central scored at almost seven runs per over (6.83), getting to 205/3 off their 30 overs. Right-handed Batoosingh was ably supported by Christian Turton (41) and Gopaul (36).In their second turn at the crease, South West struggled again, limping their way to 93/6 off 44 overs at the close. South West will resume their second innings today still 38 runs behind with only four wickets in hand.
