The T&T Cricket Board East Zone Toyota T20 Final was played over the weekend at UTT ground, O'Meara Road, Arima, between Triumph Sports Club and Agents Sports Club.
It was an exciting finish where Triumph Sports Club was victorious.
The game was played in front a large crowd. Triumph won the toss and decided to field first. After 5 overs Agents were 20 without loss but in the sixth over with the score on 23 and a brilliant throw from T&T visually-impaired captain Jennson Poyah ran out Agent's Leon Peru and the next over form the boundary line and a direct hit again from Jennson Poyah accounted for the second wicket with the score on 29.
Agents innings eventually ended on 92 for 6 in their 20 overs. Anthony Rampersad top scored with 17 while Patrick Thom and Orin James both got 13 runs each for Agents while Triumph best bowler was Alex Fredricks taking two wickets for 12 runs.
When it was Triumph's turn to bat their opening pair of Mark Sankar (Triumph captain) and Johnathan Narine started very well putting on 66 runs for the first wicket before Mark Sankar went LBW for 32 runs which brought in Ravendra Singh to the wicket where he and Narine brought it home with Man of the Match Johnathan Narine making 38 not out and Ravendra Singh getting 15 not out.
Triumph made 93 for 1 in 16.3 overs and won the Toyota East Zone T20 finals by 9 wickets taking the $20,000 first prize and will be representing the East Zone in the Courts Interzone T20 Competition.
