Talparo RC won the Atlantic 2013 Girls cricket title with an emphatic 33-run victory over Tobago's Mason Hall at the Queen's Park Oval yesterday.With the country drenched in rain yesterday morning, it looked highly unlikely that there would have been any cricket but God smiled on the children and they got the opportunity to play at the Mecca of local cricket.Mason Hall won the toss and that was their last triumph on the day, as everything went against them from that point.
They decided to insert Talparo to take first strike and they scored 102 all out in 18.4 of their allotted 20 overs. Leading the way for Talparo was the consistent Alicia Gomez who scored 16. She would later return with the ball to snare a wicket and nab the player of the match award.The best bowlers for Mason Hall were Kelisha Grant 3/20 and Celine Noel 3/12. When Mason Hall batted they lost wickets at regular intervals and were unable to mount significant partnerships. They finally fell for 69 in 17 overs to hand Talparo the comfortable win. Celine Loriene was their best batter with 12, Salisha Benton, a star in the series for Talparo was the pick of the bowlers with 2/12.
