Princes Town mother Geeta Seenath was yesterday found alive in the Matura forest seven days after she was reported missing.
Police said around 3 pm a resident of Matura called "Wire" was walking along the trail, metres from where Seenath was last seen.
Seenath, 47, of Chapel Street, had gone with a group of 40 people on an excursion to Salybia beach on May 8.
When they arrived, 13 of the 40 decided to hike to Rio Seco falls. After the brief hike, the group left and returned to the beach and around 4.30 pm they realised Seenath was missing. A search was launched immediately.
Over the last few days, relatives, police and army personnel conducted an intensive search of the forest.
Reports are that Seenath was spotted by "Wire" who stopped her and called the police.
She told officers at the Matura Police Station that she got lost from the group and had tried to follow the river course to the waterfall hoping to see people there.
Seenath was said to have suffered minor cuts and bruises and was dehydrated. She was taken to the Sangre Grande District Hospital where she was medically examined and discharged.
Police are investigating the circumstances which led to her disappearance.
