Glenn Mendez looks to be the train­er to fol­low to­day when the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly (THA) and the Ari­ma Race Club (ARC) present the third To­ba­go Day At The Races at San­ta Rosa Park, Ari­ma. The man who trained the To­ba­go bred Crown Point to two clas­sic vic­to­ries, is set to rule To­ba­go once again.The very com­pet­i­tive 10-race card has two fea­ture events, the grade two Fort King George Her­itage Park Er­ic "Colt" Du­rant Memo­r­i­al over 1,700 me­tres on the turf, and the To­ba­go Blue Food Fes­ti­val Top of The Class Stakes over 1,100 me­tres al­so on the turf for the West In­di­an bred hors­es and Mendez holds the key to both events.

The Fort King George event will see last year's win­ner Just Call Me Roger com­ing back to de­fend his crown against 12 ri­vals, two of which are on­ly go­ing to race on the main track. Just Call Me Roger will have to fend off Nom­i­nee which beat him ear­li­er in the year but Mendez knows how to ready them for the big ones.In the co-fea­ture, Mendez will be to the fore with Ram­blin Rose which looks to win her eight race on the trot. The David Ojar trained pair of Sky­line Pi­geon and Win­ning Tick­et will make my se­lec­tion run clos­est.

The large crowd ex­pect­ed will see two goat races on the THA-spon­sored day, with pa­trons be­ing treat­ed to sump­tu­ous dish­es in­clud­ing crab and dumpling pre­pared by cooks from To­ba­go.

To­ba­go has a rich his­to­ry in rac­ing, and the THA will pay trib­ute to those who have made con­tri­bu­tions, in­clud­ing breed­ers, jock­eys, train­ers and grooms.Post time is 11.30 am.
