During the past few weeks I have been bombarded with questions with reference to the following:
1. Mr Jack Warner's political future; and
2. What would be the outcome of the current by-election in Chaguanas West?
I hope the following information can help you come to a reasonable conclusion.
Mr Panday lost the leadership of the UNC Party in 2010 and his brother Subash and daughter Mickela were rejected as candidates for the UNC in 2010. Subhas was subsequently appointed to the Senate and given a ministerial portfolio in 2010 only to have it revoked in 2011 bringing an end to the Panday dynasty. The Pandays became victims of this historical pattern of voting south of the Caroni like all his predecessors–Winston Dookeran got it in 1991 and Hulsie Bhagan did not escape in 1995.
The above information is presented to you without my opinion or advice so that you could draw your own conclusions as to the political future of Mr Jack Austin Warner. This is the history of the former political monarchs of the several incarnations of the new UNC from PDP to DLP to ULF to Club 88 and finally to what it is today.
