Glenora Sports Club and Triumph Sports Club had to be separated by a Super Over in the first semifinal of the TTCB Courts Inter Zone T20 competition at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain on Saturday.
Keston Lewis took a stunning catch to dismiss Ravindra Singh with Triumph six runs short of the required 13 to win, in the Super Over, to seal the victory for Glenora.
Earlier, Triumph won the toss and elected to field first. Glenora led by a superb knock of 51 by Earnil Ryan and a diligent knock of 44 by Kwinsi Williams reached 149/6 in their 20 overs. Alex Fredericks took 2/24 in his four overs while Damian Peters got 2/25 from three overs.
When Triumph batted they were led by Johnaton Narine who made 44; he was assisted by Mark Sankar with 36, but they too ended on 149 off their 20 overs losing eight wickets. Eventual Man of the Match Seve Frasier was in ripping form with the ball grabbing 4/20 off his four overs for Glenora.
Earnil Ryan was responsible for the run outs of both Damian Peters and Daniel Sookram.
Glenora won by six runs to move to the final where they will meet Orange Field who easily disposed of Endeavour Sports in the second semi final.
Scores: Endeavour 129/7 in 20 overs (Jodhan Manohar 49, Fazil Baksh 24, Raid Adam 2-21). Orange Field 130/2 (Deonarine Deyal 58, Mark Gajhadhar 47, Nicholas Ramjass 18 n/o). Orange Field won by eight wickets. Man of the Match Deonarine Deyal.
