So­ca su­per­star Machel Mon­tano says he is def­i­nite­ly see­ing some "HD" po­ten­tial in the per­for­mances of fi­nal­ists at the bmo­bile Syn­er­gyTV So­ca Star Sea­son 7 com­pe­ti­tion. "Don't be sur­prised if in the years to come you see some­one from the com­pe­ti­tion in the HD band," Mon­tano said. He was speak­ing to the me­dia on Thurs­day night af­ter per­form­ing at the fi­nals of the com­pe­ti­tion held at the Jean Pierre Sports Com­plex, Port-of-Spain. Mon­tano was just one of the sev­er­al artistes who lent vo­cal sup­port to the promis­ing young so­ca stars. While teenagers en­joyed the lux­u­ry of pay­ing just $40 to see artistes like Mon­tano, Fay Ann Lyons-Al­varez, Blaxx, Bun­ji Gar­lin, Ker­win Du Bois, Max­imus Dan and Patrice Roberts, the re­al cheers and screams erupt­ed when the sev­en fi­nal­ists gave their per­for­mances.

And while crowd favourite Voice, gave a crowd pleas­ing per­for­mance, en­ter­ing the stage on a space­ship, it was Neil Alexan­der who got the nod of ap­proval from the judges. In sec­ond place was Voice, fol­lowed by John O'Cool. The oth­er fi­nal­ists were Tiny, Jo­van James, Ke­da Tem­pro and Tanyan. Dur­ing the com­pe­ti­tion, par­tic­i­pants were ex­posed to vo­cal train­ing as well as men­tal and phys­i­cal chal­lenges and were tak­en through the process of per­fect­ing crafts. This sea­son of the com­pe­ti­tion, which is pop­u­lar most­ly with teenagers, saw for­mer host Su­pa Jig­ga TC tak­ing up the role as a judge and ra­dio an­nounc­er Randy Man­soor (Mr Smooth) tak­ing up host­ing du­ties. Fans en­joyed guest per­for­mances by for­mer So­ca Star fi­nal­ists RasStar, Kim­ba Sorzano, Er­phaan Alves and Swap­pi as well as Prophet Ben­jamin, Shal Mar­shall, K Rich and Ker­win Du Bois.
