The beaches of Cancun Mexico are breathtakingly spectacular, with their dazzling white sands and their sparkling turquoise-blue coloured waters. On my cruise to Mexico on board the Carnival Elation, I was stunned by the beauty of the most amazing aqua waters I had ever laid my eyes on, so dazzling and inviting, utterly captivating. Surely this must have been the inspiration for this beautifully crafted Carnival costume designed by Gail Cabral. With all the feathers and coloured gems on this headpiece, necklace and rest of costume, my first thought was to do a natural beauty makeup devoid of any glitz and glam, but that thought quickly flew out the window when my gorgeous model Kunece floated through my doors.
The inspiration for this look came largely from the fuchsia pink accent gems on the costume, and the fact that there are really no limitations with Carnival and creative makeup on the whole. So why not amplify the glitz and glam of the costume and translate that on to the face, after all this style of makeup has certainly become an intrinsic part of playing d 'mas. With Kunece, I decided to keep the entire makeup within the pink family range of colour and not deviate into the more dominant turquoise-blue colours of the costume, as this most definitely would have been over-kill.
