The beach­es of Can­cun Mex­i­co are breath­tak­ing­ly spec­tac­u­lar, with their daz­zling white sands and their sparkling turquoise-blue coloured wa­ters. On my cruise to Mex­i­co on board the Car­ni­val Ela­tion, I was stunned by the beau­ty of the most amaz­ing aqua wa­ters I had ever laid my eyes on, so daz­zling and invit­ing, ut­ter­ly cap­ti­vat­ing. Sure­ly this must have been the in­spi­ra­tion for this beau­ti­ful­ly craft­ed Car­ni­val cos­tume de­signed by Gail Cabral. With all the feath­ers and coloured gems on this head­piece, neck­lace and rest of cos­tume, my first thought was to do a nat­ur­al beau­ty make­up de­void of any glitz and glam, but that thought quick­ly flew out the win­dow when my gor­geous mod­el Kunece float­ed through my doors.

The in­spi­ra­tion for this look came large­ly from the fuch­sia pink ac­cent gems on the cos­tume, and the fact that there are re­al­ly no lim­i­ta­tions with Car­ni­val and cre­ative make­up on the whole. So why not am­pli­fy the glitz and glam of the cos­tume and trans­late that on to the face, af­ter all this style of make­up has cer­tain­ly be­come an in­trin­sic part of play­ing d 'mas. With Kunece, I de­cid­ed to keep the en­tire make­up with­in the pink fam­i­ly range of colour and not de­vi­ate in­to the more dom­i­nant turquoise-blue colours of the cos­tume, as this most def­i­nite­ly would have been over-kill.
