Af­ter a league cam­paign which fol­lowed more than sev­er­al un­favourable re­sults, UTT con­tin­ued to blos­som in the MACK­E­SON Su­per 10 Bas­ket­ball League (SBL) Knock-out tour­na­ment, book­ing a place in the fi­nal af­ter a stun­ning 89-79 win over Na­tion­al Flour Mills (NFM) at the Jean Pierre Com­plex, Mu­cu­rapo, on Thurs­day night. The win saw UTT earn a spot in the ti­tle de­cid­ing match, against league win­ners San­do Petro Jazz, which de­feat­ed Cale­do­nia Clip­pers 80-68, in the oth­er se­mi-fi­nal, on Tues­day night. Jef­frey Har­ris scored eight vi­tal points in the fourth quar­ter which helped UTT take an unas­sail­able lead, head­ing in­to the fi­nal mo­ments. Har­ris came away with 19 points, fol­low­ing for­ward Kern George, who led all scor­ers on the day with 27 points.

UTT led 45-35 at the end of two ses­sions, and con­trolled the match through­out in a tac­ti­cal­ly-de­fen­sive dom­i­nat­ed en­counter. NFM's for­mer ju­nior for­ward Ker­ry McMil­lian way the team's top scor­er with 19 points, and he grabbed four re­bounds, while vet­er­an point-guard Ker­ry "Piper" West­field fin­ished on 15. Just over two weeks ago, UTT stunned ti­tle favourites and 2010/2011 cham­pi­on De­tour Shak At­tack 87-86 to ad­vance to the semi­fi­nal. That match al­so saw Har­ris come up big, scor­ing the fi­nal six points for the team in the most in­te­gral clos­ing sec­onds. The knock-out fi­nal will jump off on Tues­day at the same venue from 8.30 pm.
