The Grenadian government has denied that an oil feud exists between Grenada and Trinidad and Tobago, counter to an article that appeared last month in the Trinidad Express which alleged there was a potential conflict regarding Blocks TTDAA 28 an TTDAA 29.
"We were alarmed by the story and are not aware of any potential conflict." said Grenada's minister responsible for energy, Nazim Burke. Burke added, "We have since been in communication with Kevin Ramnarine, Minister for Energy for Trinidad and Tobago, and have reviewed the press release in response to the article."
Ramnarine said, "Blocks 28 and 29 do not encroach on any maritime space related to Grenada." "Blocks 28 and 29 lie within Trinidad and Tobago's maritime jurisdiction and are in fact either close to or adjoin the Trinidad and Tobago/Barbados maritime boundary," he added.
The Grenadian government has confirmed that upon their review of the latest upstream activity map, the named blocks do not adjoin Grenada's maritime boundary.
